Installation Meeting, 24 April 2025
On 24 April 2025, Kent Club members celebrated a significant milestone with the installation meeting of Pythagorean Chapter No. 79. Consecrated in 1870, this historic chapter is now officially the Special Interest Chapter for the Kent Club, offering members a rare opportunity to experience its rich heritage and unique traditions.
A Distinctive Opening Ceremony
The meeting featured the chapter’s exceptional opening ceremony, one of only three chapters under the English Constitution to work the Domatic ritual. The ceremony, enhanced by the use of a censer by the Thurifer, created a memorable and atmospheric experience for all attendees, particularly for newly exalted members.
Meeting and Dining
The chapter convenes at Freemasons’ Hall, with three meetings held annually on the third Thursday of February, April, and November. Members enjoyed dining within the historic hall, further enriching the sense of tradition and fellowship.
Membership Opportunities
Membership of Pythagorean Chapter No. 79 provides access to unique ceremonies, progression through chapter offices, and a close connection with the Kent Club community. For 2025, the Kent Club generously offered to cover the joining fee for members who joined or were exalted into the chapter. Annual subscription costs are £60, with dining around £65.
This installation meeting highlighted the chapter’s ongoing mission to preserve its history while providing an engaging and distinctive experience for Kent Club members.
