On 20 May 2025, Kent Club members enjoyed an exclusive guided tour of the world-famous Royal Albert Hall. Known as one of the most iconic performance venues in the world, the Hall has welcomed legends such as Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, Muhammad Ali, The Beatles, Adele, and many more.

Discovering the Hall’s Origins

The tour began with the fascinating story behind the Hall’s creation, a royal love story that inspired its foundation more than 150 years ago. Members also learned how innovative engineering solved the venue’s infamous echo, shaping the acoustics we know today.

Behind the Scenes

Members were given a rare glimpse into areas normally closed to the public, including the royal box and royal entrance. On special occasions, the tour can also include dressing rooms and under-stage spaces, providing insight into the hidden workings of this remarkable venue.

A Legacy of Performance

The group heard stories of the Hall’s incredible legacy, from the BBC Proms to Cirque du Soleil, and from classical music and ballet to comedy, rock, and pop. With rehearsals often taking place during the day, there was even the chance to catch a glimpse of live production preparations.

An Exclusive Kent Club Evening

On 31st March 2025, Kent Club members gathered at the Tower of London for a truly special experience: the world-famous Ceremony of the Keys. This ritual, performed every night for centuries, gave members the chance to witness history in action inside one of Britain’s most iconic landmarks.

An Evening at the Tower

The night began with a private after-hours tour of the Tower, exploring its ancient walls and hidden corners away from the usual crowds. Members then enjoyed drinks and conversation in the Warders’ Bar, a space usually reserved for the Yeoman Warders themselves. A raffle in support of the Tower added to the friendly atmosphere before the main event.

The Ceremony

As the clock approached 10pm, we gathered in the quiet of the Tower grounds. The exchange was carried out with the same words spoken for generations:

Sentry: “Halt, who comes there?”
Yeoman Warder: “The keys.”
Sentry: “Whose keys?”
Yeoman Warder: “King Charles’ keys.”
Sentry: “Pass then, all’s well.”

This short but powerful ritual symbolised the locking of the Tower and its enduring duty to protect the Crown Jewels.

A Memorable Night

After the ceremony, members returned to the Warders’ Bar to reflect on the experience and enjoy each other’s company before leaving the Tower at 11pm.

On 27th January 2025, Kent Club members enjoyed an exciting day of clay shooting at Clays, just a short walk from Moorgate station. This unique venue brings the thrill of the British countryside into the heart of London, offering a fast-paced and memorable experience.

An Action-Packed Session

Members arrived early to make the most of their session, taking aim at clay targets under expert guidance. The event provided both newcomers and experienced shooters the chance to refine their skills in a safe, controlled environment.

Fellowship and Relaxation

After the session, attendees had the opportunity to relax and socialize in the bar area, sharing stories of their highlights and celebrating their achievements on the range.

Clays operates on a cashless system, so members were reminded to bring an electronic payment method or gift card for refreshments and extras.

This event combined sport, skill, and camaraderie, creating a truly unforgettable experience for all who attended.

Royal Air Force Club, 29 June 2024

On 29 June 2024, the Kent Club hosted its President Gala Dinner at the prestigious Royal Air Force Club, Piccadilly, bringing members, guests, and partners together for an unforgettable evening of fellowship and celebration.

An Elegant Setting

The evening began with a drinks reception in the Churchill Bar, before guests moved to the Sovereign’s Room for dinner. Surrounded by the timeless elegance of the RAF Club, members enjoyed a night that perfectly blended tradition, fine dining, and camaraderie.

A Distinguished Guest Speaker

The highlight of the evening was an address by RW Bro Warren Duke, Metropolitan Grand Master and Metropolitan Grand Superintendent, whose presence added distinction and significance to the occasion.

Fine Dining and Fellowship

Guests were treated to a carefully curated menu, including gin & tonic cured salmon, mint & mustard roasted rump of lamb, and a white chocolate & pistachio tiramisu, all accompanied by wines selected from the RAF Club’s own cellar. The combination of excellent food, wine, and company created a warm and memorable atmosphere.

A Night to Remember

The Gala Dinner not only celebrated the Club’s ongoing success but also provided members with the opportunity to introduce friends, fellow Lodge members, and partners to the Kent Club within one of London’s most iconic venues.

Kent Club Exclusive Visit, 12 April 2024

On 12 April 2024, Kent Club members were treated to an exclusive journey into the history and heritage of the Temple Church in central London. Built by the Knights Templar in the 12th century, the church stands as one of London’s most iconic landmarks, steeped in centuries of history, architecture, and legend.

Exploring the Templar Legacy

The visit offered members the chance to uncover the enduring legacy of the Knights Templar, from their founding and legendary crusades to their profound influence on law and society. Attendees also explored the church’s connections to the Magna Carta and the life of Sir William Marshall, highlighting its pivotal role in shaping history.

Architecture and Common Law Links

Guests admired the church’s stunning architecture and learned about its resilience, including surviving the Blitz. The tour also highlighted fascinating connections between Temple Church and the development of common law traditions across the UK, the USA, and the Commonwealth.

An Engaging Presentation

The session featured a presentation by the Master of the Temple Church, Robin Griffith Jones, titled “From the Templars to The Da Vinci Code: 850 years of the Temple Church.” The 45-minute talk provided a comprehensive yet accessible exploration of the church’s history, architecture, and cultural significance, making it a memorable experience for all attendees.
